White House Health Care Summit Part I

Congressional Democrats and Republicans gathered at Blair House for a discussion on health care legislation with President Obama. He first announced the idea for this event during a Super Bowl Sunday interview with CBS news Anchor Katie Couric. Since then, the President has released a health care plan drawing largely from two bills passed by House and Senate Democrats. We heard opening comments from the President and congressional leaders followed by discussions on health care costs, insurance reforms, deficit reduction and expanding coverage.

  1. can you say assited suicide ?, if you are to old to trat or to expnecive you might be encoraged to , “pass on”

  2. Japan has a great system; Make all health care companies non-profit and limit the pay for executives. People should not be making fortunes off other peoples illness or injury. The huge amount of money skimmed off the top by these health organizations (who also own many of our hospitals) is a major factor in the increase in rates and care. The rates on low risk groups have gone so high, they don’t feel the need to participate, small wonder.

  3. No generic meds due to back room deal with big pharma,,
No Insurance competition across state lines..
    No TORT REFORM ..
Also, hypocratic oathe is ignored by physicians LEAVING profession due to denial of treatment to patients with multiple conditions that are too expensive to treat..
Back room Union cadillac 40% fee Exemption is passed onto the SUPER-HIGH Premium Rates set by gov’t that will create expand to 118 NEW beaurocratic agencies that come between YOU and YOUR DOCTOR..
    It BLOWS!!

  4. A bunch of rich white pricks deciding what is going to happen to millions of poor and middle class people. I wish they were just like regular people, then, maybe, they would be able to have a proper perspective. All it is, is shit talk. Trying to one-up the opposite party. Its immature bullshit, and I know plenty of “regular” people that show a lot more maturity than any of these fat cat pricks. Figure it out, or people get sick and die. That would certainly be a fail for the nation.

  5. The President shot his ego down and made this old fool look pretty bad !
McCain needs to became Joe the plumbers part time helper that’s about all he’s good for at this point and he truly knows it!

  6. @WilliamHCarney I doubt that very much. A poll done by CNN, the Communist News Network, usually a BIG Obama supporter, shows that 76% of the american people either don’t want the bill, or want to start the bill over. The Dems don’t keep it real, they are lieing to you.

  10. BO’s health care bill is in such demand by the American people that he may be selling Judgeships for votes. BO invited ten senators to meet him at the White House including Jim Matheson of Utah who formerly voted against the bill .President Obama nominated Matheson’s brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit at the same time he is meeting to do some good old fashioned Chicago thug style arm twisting.

The party of big government marches forward!

  11. THE SLEEPING GIANT has INSOMNIA….
REGRESSIVES will be pushed back into the LAST CENTURY and will never show their faces again…..

  12. Hey,
I really don’t think there are 51 stupid komacazzi senators left–after that SCOTT BROWN SCATTER they keep doing– to vote for any TAX & JAIL TROJAN HORSE MANDATE to buy garbage Insurance or GO TO JAIL…that will haunt them as they are forced to live in EXILE hidden away in their gated homes away from the faces of the 300 million people that NEVER WANTED IT…
    What could be worth that?
    Kill it…
    …..Nobody wants it..
    …..It DIED and it stinks…BURY IT!!…..

  13. DC must be nuked.

  14. A string of electoral defeats and the great unpopularity of ObamaCare can’t stop Democrats from their self-appointed rendezvous with liberal destiny—ramming a bill through Congress on a narrow partisan vote. What we are about to witness is an extraordinary abuse of traditional Senate rules to pass a bill merely because they think it’s good for the rest of us, and because they fear their chance to build a European welfare state may never come again.

The GOP Assholes are on the way out They have been caught in soo many lies about reform. I’ve personally called people in Kentucky, and parts of Ohio, randomly, and most tells me they want reform. In NV., most people want it, especially the Public Option. 56% of Nevadans wants reform, and 62% of us Independents, wants the Public Option also. So that the GOP says how the american people don’t want this is a lie. Some may not, but a super majority does. The Dems keep it real. The GOP does not.

Yeah right. You all believe in scare tactics tooo much.

  17. Pizza
Obama told Americans to turn off TV News. Dose HE realize that TV news wonks can not Execute, Write or Decide on the Constitutionality of any law? He doth protest too much…Or is he is loosing left cover!

It’s been l.25 years, the best Presidential Honey Moon in history, a Super Majority, but he is inept to sell this Bill to his own Party. So he will ram it down the people’s throats using reconciliation. Is he a leader or a ruler. Is this a representative Republic or a Democracy?

  18. the Leftist Democrat definition of Bi-Partisan means Conservatives give up on principle, while Marxist Democrats pontificate meaningless slogans and steal our Liberties.

  19. Why doesn’t someone shove the health care bill straight up Obama’s skinny ass. If it doesn’t fit ~ try shoving up Pelosi’s fat ass or Harry Reid’s sorry ass. Corrupt bastards.

i dont understand why the majority of republicans are opposing this legislation. I’m a republican myself and this healthcare bill is very much just trying to give consumers more leverage in their negotiations with the insurance companies.

There really is no reason to oppose this. This is the farthest thing from socialism i can imagine. Why exactly are my fellow republican’s so set against this bill?

  22. Oh yes, an appeal to God’s will. That’s never been heard before. You are preaching to the choir, Marie.

  23. Instead of implying the very thing you are arguing for, you might want to spend more time developing your argument by providing examples of the violation of individual rights that this plan outlines.

And I’m an just going to ignore your premise that collective agenda can not benefit the individual. Unless, of course, you can provide a substantive example of how Health Care hurts people (wow, what a thought). I’m consistently reminded of how glad I am of choosing to remain impartial in my youth.

  24. I’d like to highlight the fact that most of the preceding conservative posts have defined collectivist (adj) as “of the government” in order to equate the democratic health care plan to that of communist regimes.

They should realize that their uncritical thinking strategies (Obama = COMMUNIST) are precisely what communist regimes prey (&pray) on.

I’d advise the unbiased viewer not to read the rest of these posts, in order to avoid confusion the conservative rabble insist on perpetuating.

    Best

  25. I think Dems assume “I” = “we”. They assume there is no difference between self interest and collective interest. I think they’re trying to address real inefficiencies in how that primal assumption manifests itself in our daily life.
