Personally I think a constitutional amendment explicating that the 18th century usage of the words “man”, “men” and “mankind” has a gender neutral equivalent. This isn’t because I’m a PC bolshy, as a libertarian I just want that platitudinous bandwaggon sect to disappear.
The constitution says “all men” this means black people.
You could be right about people with a free-market ideology, but I consider myself libertarian for pragmatic reasons – markets deliver better livings for people overall
OK then Suadi Arabia has a really low murder rate, what i thought you were implying was that Norway had a really high murder rate. By the way what facts are you saying that I “heard” and not read? Also I completely agree with you I think that the second amendment is one of the best amendments after the first amendment just on the strength that if a gov becomes totalitarian you need arms to overthrow it.
you are basically admitting to me that you would rather have a huge military state than a huge welfare state. Think for a minute, which one could be more easily used to commit genocide on it’s own people? you don’t need huge defense to enforce social contracts perhaps an adequate one at best but no matter how litle social spending there is when you have a military that is too big truth is you have a gov that is too big.
Ok but they tax alcohol, cigarettes, trans fat etc really heavily which just goes to show that higher consumption tax on certain bad things won’t curb people’s freedoms it will just make it so that the gov will have revenue to pay for health care taking away the negative externality of high cost to the responsible healthy norwegian citizen.
I read it, as I don’t use what I “hear” as fact. Yeah norways murder rate is low, lower than the us’s by far. But saudi’s is much lower. Thats just a fact. Read a current publication reguarding this and you will see. For the record, I’d still rather live in norway.
Norway also has very liberal gun laws and alot of people own guns there, which I like. In switzerland you are required to have a fully automatic gun in each home. That isn’t a bad idea either.
Maybe you’re an asshole who should be shot and thrown away. I am calling for a reduction in the price of healthy food. Keep junk food prices the same for all I care but healthy food should be affordable for all; that way, you won’t have the poor eating junk that makes them sick in the long run which leads to them either dying from poor health or going to an emergency room and having tax payers pay for their care. How someone can argue against what I’m advocating is beyond me!
the problem i have w/libertarians is that they assume ppl will not usurp ppl’s equal rights
that is why i think libertarianism is a selfish worldview that only white males can really have. i don’t think a black woman would be a libertarian because under the constitution she had no rights and it took legislation to make sure her rights aren’t usurped
libertarians say that this legislation should not have passed. look at ron paul’s record if you don’t believe me.
Don’t force into government gyms for enforcing some arbitrary “healthy” body type on us. How are politicians supposed to determine “health” for all. Whatever happen to health privacy? My health is nobody’s business but my own.
Why is it that when liberals have no argument and are losing the debate, they always hide behind children. Whatever the topic is they always drag out the same talking point, “We have to do it for the children!”. It could be anything. We could be debating the height of rose bushes and if a liberal was losing they would start shouting and crying “Don’t you care about the children?!”. Even more odd when you consider that a few months younger and they’d be saying it’s OK to abort them.
If that is the case I’m fine with that first you elect a libertarian gov that works and then I’ll do that. I don’t understand how tax incentives = collectivization?
yes but Hitler invading Russia made him to spread out covering to much land than he could handle when america entered the war it was just the straw of hay that broke the camel’s back.
The marshal plan was spent to rebuild our economies initialy but when are economies were rebuilt and the marshal plan ended we spent a lot of money produced from our economies to develop our HDI. For the size of America’s economy they have done very little to Develop their HDI they have 8th highest GDP but only 13th highest HDI. there is also economic incentive to develop HDI because it would also boos human capital, however even with this incentive America has been slow to do anything.
dud are you for real where did you hear that Norway has 3x the murder rate than Saudi Arabia? there are so few murders here that if someone attempts to murder someone else it is on the front page of the news. Show me where you found that stat!
Many of my friends who are moderate weight lifters (16 to 20 % body fat) are considered to be very obese. Every qualified fitness expert will tell you that a BMI is not an accurate measurement of health.
The best measurement for how fit you are are the following:
Lactate Threshold Testing
Body Fat Percentage Measurement
Maximum weight you can lift (bench, dead, & squat) vs. how much you weight.
All are better than BMI but most doctors only get 15 min with you and this requires about 2 hours.
It is HUMILIATING for ‘overweight’ children to be weighed publicly. This is cruelty to children. This is degrading. This is an assault on their self respect and their right to be treated with respect as an individual. Aren’t children cruel enough as it is without being given ‘official’ license to look down on and insult other children?
Why do fat people have fewer rights than religious minorities or racial minorities.
How many times do you have to hear it: stop using collectivism to argue for more collectivism. What’s the matter with you? Don’t you get it? You begin by collectivizing one thing, it causes you to collectivize the next. And yet you Socialists wonder a) why free people hate you, b) why we insist that you all slide to Communism. Here’s a thought: libertarianism has room for collectivism. You can join a collective freely – and leave the rest of us alone. Is that not good enough for you?

Chew on what that means for a while re: the social attitudes of too many black folks and what that might mean for their own welfare (that’s small-w welfare) and independence. Settlers and pioneers were libertarian. Freed slaves were libertarian. Frederick Douglas was essentially libertarian.
