Chip industry optimistic with increase on PC sales
For last few weeks, there has been different mobile phones and laptops launched in the market. Every hardware company has been exhibiting their innovations in mobile and PC OS and hardware design. This has caused the whole of consumer market to boom. The increase in PC sales shows that there will always be a place for PC even if Mobile industry will grow. People will still demand a desktop or a laptop for their personal use.
This holiday seasons will be a blast for people as they will be busy comparing different sets of devices and making a decisions. On this very note, sales of hardware devices have seen growth above anyone’s expectation thus Gartner have raised the revenue forecast of the Chip company.
Gartner raised its revenue forecast for the global chip industry on Monday due to stronger than expected demand for PCs and mobile phones, as well as government stimulus programs that have boosted demand for chips.
The above chart shows that the new estimation predicts $ 226 Billion which is higher than the original estimation of $ 121 Billion. We can see the drop is percentage has decreased from 17.1% to 11.4%. Gartner have told in their report that semiconductor market is improving and have related the growth with the growth of PC.
“The semiconductor market’s recovery is well under way, and the outlook continues to improve as semiconductor suppliers post outstanding quarterly results,” Gartner analyst Bryan Lewis wrote in a report on Monday. “PCs are the single largest application driving the semiconductor rebound: PC unit growth projections dramatically improved from double-digit declines at the start of 2009 to the current low-single-digit positive outlook,” he added.
